Magdalena "Maggie" Gomez Miranda

Magdalena "Maggie" Gomez Miranda, born on February 17, 1950, in, Arizona, passed away peacefully on September 24 2024, in Tucson, Arizona. A beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Maggie will be remembered fondly for her years as a dedicated waitress at El Minuto and El Torrero, where she formed lasting relationships with her customers and colleagues alike.

Maggie's commitment to her family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her children, Marcela Miranda and Daniel Miranda (Maria), who cherish her nurturing spirit. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Daniela, Leobardo, Julissa, Daniel, and Santiago, as well as her great-grandchildren, Michael, Mireya, Scarlett, Brian, and Mia. She also had a close bond with her siblings: Aida, Memo, Mario, Robert, Lupita, Lucy, Patricia, Laura, and Ernesto as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Educated at Superior High School in Superior, Arizona, Maggie was known for her caring, kind, and thoughtful personality. She possessed a remarkable determination and a strong work ethic that inspired those around her. Her love for music and sports reflected her vibrant spirit, and she found joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will be carried forward. She had a fondness for Betty Boop and elephants. 

Maggie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manuel "Blanco" Miranda, and her brother, Manny Duarte. These losses are felt deeply by her surviving family, who draw upon her strength and kindness during this time of mourning.

A visitation will be held on October 5, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Tucson, with a Rosary recited at 8:30 AM. A Mass will be celebrated later that day at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Roman Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, with a burial to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery at 11:30 AM. The community is invited to join in honoring Maggie’s life and the incredible impact she had on all who knew her.
