Maria DeJesus Bravo Lopez spread her wings in Heaven on January 3rd, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Always a strong, faith-filled, independent, daughter, sister, cousin, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend.
Throughout her life, she saw beauty and fun all around her; she could get a whole room erupt with laughter with her surprising quick wit. Also surprising was her contrasting personality; one minute she would be praying the rosary and the next she’s watching Lucha Libre shouting "PEGALE!" This last holiday season, she enjoyed a nice cold beer for Christmas and rang in the New Year with a small cup of wine. Maria's beautiful smile, laughter, and incredible sense of humor lit up our souls.
She was born and raised in Nogales, Sonora to Urbano and Angelita Bravo on November 13th, 1941. Maria’s upbringing was filled with faith and love for God and church. So much so that in her early adulthood years she worked as a secretary at the Parroquia De La Purisima Concepción Church where she made lifelong friends with the Fathers and fellow co-workers.
At the age of 12 she met Roberto Lopez who she started dating at age 15 and fell deeply in love with him and he became the love of her life. And in November of 1962, they married and started a family. Throughout their marriage, Maria and Roberto were a shining example of what a marriage could be and should be. They were always holding hands when they walked together and were never afraid of showing how much they loved each other. This deep-seated joy of life and love for each other carried them through their many years together. No one could ever doubt how much love they had for one another.
Being a wife and mother were Maria's greatest joy in life. She raised her three wonderful children and was happiest when around her family. She was very proud to be Nana to her grandkids Maritza Dean, Joey Dean, Julie (husband Gjermundson) Jake, and Nikola Toles. She was also proud of her great grandchildren, Keshawn Douglas, Amya Valencia, Jenessa Dean, Jose Dean III, and Aurora Jake.
Maria is survived by her children: Martin Lopez, Jessie Dean, Imelda Toles, and alongside her son-in-law’s, Jose Dean and Kevin Toles. And is also survived by her sister Regina Bravo, brother Fabian Bravo, multiple brother and sister-in-law’s, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless number of extended family and friends.
We live with joy in our hearts with hope that arriving in heaven Maria was rejoined with her lifelong love Roberto, her parents, and many other loved ones.

Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I'll miss you, until we meet again.”
