Maria E. Camargo

Maria E. Camargo passed away peacefully on August 13th surrounded by her loving family.  She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Emigdio A. Camargo; sons, Emigdio R. Camargo (Lisa) and Luis A. Camargo (Blanca); daughters, Veronica Lopez (Martin) and Marisa Camargo; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  Such a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was also very outgoing.  An excellent cook who enjoyed making food for everyone.  Some of her delicious recipes were tortillas, tamales and bunuelos.  Many memories were made with her husband and children on their hunting and camping trips with Patagonia Lake being one of their favorite places to go.  She married the love of her life, Emigdio, after he approached her on the streets of Nogales, Sonora and asked her for a bite of the apple she was eating.  After several years of courting they got married during the year 1963 renewing their vows on their 35th and 50th wedding anniversaries.  Maria was a "curandera" who was trusted by many families to help heal their children who became ill with minor sicknesses.  She never turned anyone away who sought her help. A beautiful soul has now returned to Heaven but will forever remain in the hearts of all she touched.
