Maria Alicia Frias, age 73, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 28, 1950 in Tucson, Arizona to Ernesto and Nellie Teran. She married her high school sweetheart, Eduardo Martinez Frias, in September 1966 and celebrated 57 years together as of September 2023. She adored her husband and told him every day she loved him.
Maria worked for TUSD as a Teacher’s Aid for many years before retiring to help raise her grandchildren. Maria was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She treasured all her family. She had a playful and humorous personality and would make all around her laugh. Her grand-children would call her the “Crazy Nana.”
She was the loving and devoted mom to Eduardo “Chito” Ernesto Frias (Vivan), Maria Angelita Frias, Monica Louise Weinman (Jeffrey) and Elizabeth “Bebet” Marie Bingham (Sam). All of Tucson, Arizona.
She was the loving and devoted Nana to Eduardo Frias, Jr., Conrad R. Frias (Paul), Larry Brian Anderson (Anny), Andrew C. Anderson (Danielle, or Daniella as Nana would call her), Angelica M. Frias (Ricardo), Jay Weinman (Crystal), Jace Weinman (Alexis), Sammy Bingham, Samantha Bingham and Sabrina “Beena Baby” Bingham (Vanessa, or as Nana would call her, Nessa).
She was the loving and devoted Nanita to Adrianna Frias, Leo Frias, Angel Frias, Nathan Anderson, Caleb Anderson, Jacob Anderson, Anayeli Frias-Nolazco, Alicia Frias-Nolazco and Nevaeh Nolazco.
She was the loving sister to Antonio Teran, Alfredo Teran, Gloria Teran and Victor Teran and the caring Tia, cousin, Godmother and friend to many.
Maria loved family trips to the White Mountains to camp, family barbecues, shopping for purses and shoes. She also loved to scare her grandkids for fun, dance with her husband and go to the Casino. Maria had a kind soul and would open her house to anyone. She would feed anyone that came by to visit and her cooking was the best. She always had a positive outlook on life and she would always tell her family to think and be positive. She was appreciative of all her family and friends and wanted all of them to know that she loved them all. Shortly before her death, she made sure to tell all of her family members that she loved them. The family traditions she taught us will continue forever. She leaves behind a family she created that will miss her dearly.
