Maria Jesus Figueroa

Maria Jesus Figueroa, 91, earned her wings on October 16, 2018 surrounded by her beautiful family.  She was born December 26, 1926 to Baudelio Martinez and Maria Martinez Cibrian in a little town of Ahuacatlan, Nayarit Mexico. She was preceded by her parents, sisters: Angelita, Candida, Juana, Maria Luisa and her loving husband Oscar Figueroa Garcia. She is survived by her daughter: Martha A. Torres (Francisco), Granddaughter: Karina A. Torres and many nephews and nieces. From an early age she worked at the St. Joseph’s Hospital, now known as Holy Cross Hospital, here in Nogales back in the time when the hospital was where the Burger king now stands. She worked in different departments and working lastly in the geriatrics department for many years as a Nurse’s Assistant. She loved working there and helping the elderly. She retired at the age of 78 from the hospital to stay home and take care of her only granddaughter. She was a very hard worker. A great wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She loved to sew and cook. Always happy and ready to help. Her beans were very well known with her coworkers and her menudo with the family. She was a religious woman that always looked at death as something very natural that had to happen. She leaves us with an emptiness in our hearts but knowing that she is now at peace, pain free. She will be greatly missed. Te Amo Madre!

Services entrusted to Martinez Funeral Chapels.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. On Thursday, October 25, 2018 a body present mass will be celebrated at San Felipe de Jesus at 1:00 p.m.
