Maria “Wita” Isabel Villegas, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, passed away on June 28, 2023. She was born on January 12, 1932. Maria will be remembered with great fondness for her kind-hearted nature and the love she spread throughout her life.
Maria had a remarkable career as a babysitter, caring for many children over the years. Her nurturing nature and genuine love for children endeared her to all who knew her. Children adored her and were always drawn to her warm personality. Maria's legacy as a caring caregiver will forever be etched in the hearts of those she cared for.
Not only was Maria known for her tender care of children, but she was also renowned for her culinary skills. Her cooking was nothing short of extraordinary, with everyone raving about her delicious beans. The way she could effortlessly bring joy and comfort through food was truly remarkable. Her recipes will undoubtedly be cherished by family and friends for generations to come.
Maria's devotion to family extended beyond her own child. She had to halt her education at a young age to help raise her siblings, demonstrating her selflessness from an early age. An open door policy was maintained in Maria's house; everyone was welcomed with open arms, embodying the true meaning of hospitality.
Maria took pleasure in the simple joys of life. Gardening brought her immense happiness, whether it was tending to flowers or nurturing plants in her garden sanctuary. Often wearing her favorite large straw hat, she would wake up early to meticulously care for her plants. The beauty she cultivated in her garden mirrored the beauty within Maria's heart.
With a radiant smile always gracing her beautiful face, Maria saw the world through eyes filled with love and compassion. Her joyful spirit uplifted everyone around her, leaving lasting impressions on all those fortunate enough to have known her. Filled with humor, love, and care, Maria made an indelible impact on the lives she touched.
Services to honor and celebrate Maria's life will be held on July 14, 2023. A Mass will be held at St Margaret Mary Parish in Tucson, Arizona, beginning at 10:00 AM. Following the Mass, a visitation will take place from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM at Martinez Funeral Chapels - Tucson, located at 2580 S 6th Ave. Later in the afternoon, a Rosary will be held at the same location from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
Maria leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished and carried on by her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Maria Lourdes Valdenegro; her grandchildren, Michelle, Lyza, Ben "Boy" and Shani; great-grandchildren, Monroe, Marlon, Zeke, Zoie,Roman, Ellie, Benny, Kahno, Richey and Bronson; her brothers, Francisco Villegas and Rafael Villegas, and her sister, Christina Medina. The love and memories they shared with Maria will continue to live on as a testament to her beautiful soul.
