Mariano Ramirez Madrid, a skilled wood carver for many years, has peacefully passed away at the age of 90 in Tucson, Arizona. Born on July 26, 1933, in Oputo, Sonora, Mexico, Mariano brought creativity and dedication to every piece he carved.

Described as very loving yet quiet and reserved, Mariano was a simple man who found joy in his woodworking hobby. His work reflected his meticulous nature and passion for creating beauty out of wood.

Mariano is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62, Maria Luisa Ramirez, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories. He is survived by his children: Antonio Ramirez, Rosa Delia Cheatham, Elva Ramirez, Trinidad Ramirez, Obdulia Prescott, Maria Isabel Ramirez, and Mariano Ramirez. Additionally, he leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Mariano also touched the lives of many nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish the moments shared with him.

The services to honor Mariano's life will be held on July 15, 2024. The visitation will take place at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Tucson from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM. A rosary will follow from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The final farewell will be a graveside service at Holy Hope Cemetery in Tucson starting at 11:00 AM.
