Martha Irene Barton

March 13, 1943 — May 9, 2024

Nogales Arizona

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Martha Barton, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, on May 9th, 2024. Born and raised in Nogales, Arizona, Martha's early years were filled with the vibrant culture and warmth of her extended family and her hometown. Her strength and resilience were shaped by the challenges she faced, including her family's move to Tucson, following her parents' divorce.

A proud graduate of Tucson High School, Martha's ambition led her to a successful career as a hairdresser after earning her certificate in cosmetology. Her creativity and skill brought joy and confidence to all those she served. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Samuel "Sammy" Barton. Their union was blessed with two loving sons, Sean and Kevin, and a life filled with love and shared passions.

Martha's love for her family knew no bounds. She was a devoted wife and mother, and later, a doting grandmother to Liam, Ian, Connor, Andrew, Kayla, and Samantha. Her spirit of independence and her love for the outdoors, gardening, and tackling home projects were an inspiration to all who knew her.  An avid golfer, Martha's competitive spirit and talent were evident when she won her club championship, a testament to her dedication and zest for life. Her presence at her children’s and grandchildren's events and U of A football games, alongside her family, was a source of joy and camaraderie.

Though deeply affected by the loss of her beloved Sammy in 2007, Martha's indomitable spirit carried her through. She continued to live life to the fullest, always placing her family at the heart of everything she did. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and the enduring strength of family bonds.

Martha was a force of nature and her life was a beautiful tapestry of dedication, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved. She will be profoundly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her generous spirit.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Way of Santa Cruz County, a cause close to Martha's heart.

The Barton family extends their heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of love and support during this time of remembrance.
