Mary O. Garcia

Our Beloved Wife, Mother, and Nana, Mary Ortiz Garcia passed away in peace on May 27, 2017 at Northwest Hospital in Tucson AZ. Mary was born in Nogales, AZ to Jose and Francesca Ortiz on January 4, 1932. She had five siblings, Margaret, Adeline, Joe, Carlos, and Sally (all predeceased). She lived her early life in Yuma and went into nursing care, working at Yuma County Hospital, where she met her husband, Alexander. Mary’s beauty could rival the loveliest flower and would light up a room with her Sophia Loren-like radiance. Alex simply fell in love, married her in 1957; and the rest is history. Mary was a devoted military wife, following her husband through his career in the Air Force, making loving homes in Japan, Colorado, So. Carolina, Idaho, Arizona, Washington, and Oregon. She also worked at St. Mary’s hospital in the early 50’s and later, after settling in Tucson, for Tucson Unified Schools in Food Services. Mary’s dedication was to her family and Our Lord. She had a love of quails, owls, and pink roses. Mary is survived by her husband of 60 years, Alexander Garcia; children John (Lila) Garcia, Victor Garcia, and Denise (Bill) Liby; Grandchildren Johnny (Chrissy) Garcia, Jamie (Jeff) Clark, Teresa (Javier) Fierro, and Andrea Liby (Tim Knox); Great-Grandchildren Maricela, Joshua, MariahDanae, Asia, and Tomas. We will greatly miss your beautiful eyes, your striking smile, your feistiness, and your humor. Viewing and Services will be on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017  at Martinez Funeral Chapels, 2580 S. 6th Avenue, from at 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by procession and internment at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Rd. The family would be honored to have you share in the celebration of Mary’s life with a luncheon and gathering at Martinez Funeral Home’s Reception Hall, Salon La Paloma, immediately following the internment services.
