Mary J. Torres

Mary Jennie Torres, 71, of Tucson, went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2019, after a long battle with illness. She fought hard until the end! She was born in Deming, New Mexico.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Pablo and Margarita Torres. Her brothers; Peter, Alex, Paul “Bebe” Torres, sister; Sylvia Pardo and her grandson; Abel Moreno, Sr.

She is survived by her four daughters; Leticia “Lety” (Pastor Lupe) Rodriguez, Melissa (Francis) Maasland, Teresa Moreno (Rico) and Senaida (Abraham) Ortiz. Her grandsons; Mario Sr., David, Israel, Wilfredo Jr. and George. Her granddaughters; Ana-Alicia, Clarissa, Maria, Serena, Desiree, Destiny and Bruklin. Her great-grandsons; Abel Jr., Mario Jr., David Jr. and Alex Jr. And her great-granddaughters; Sofia, Emma, Aubrianna, Iliana and Daniella. And one great-grandaughter on the way; Kamila. Her siblings; Amelia (Gilbert) Chavez, Ernestina Perez, Lucy (Ramon) Lugo, Yolanda Valenzuela, Lydia Banegas, Ermalinda (Miguel) Hernandez, Rosa Grijalva, Luis (Yvonne) Torres and Bernice (Leo) Ruiz. And a large extended family.

Jennie was the oldest of 14 children. She helped raise her brothers and sisters. She was a mother figure to numerous siblings, nieces and nephews. Many extended family members lived with her during their youth and she cared for them as her own. She would have given you the shirt off her back or her last dollar. She will be missed by the numerous family members and friends that loved her dearly. She is remembered by many for her excellent cooking and her homeade tortillas. She loved to listen to Mexican music and enjoyed shopping. The true loves of her life were her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

Friday, September 6, 2019 4:00pm-6:00pm *private viewing for family members only*. Main service and viewing 6:00pm-9:00pm; with service beginning at 7:00pm.
