Leticia Gutierrez

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Olga Leticia (Letty) Gutierrez, a deeply loved daughter, mother and wife. She was unexpectedly called to be our guardian angel on November 26, 2024 while home with those who loved and cared for her, at the age of 49.

Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona; Letty was an incredibly loving and passionate mother, a devoted and adored wife, deeply cherished daughter and woman in our family as well as in the hearts of those who knew her best.

She dedicated her professional career to helping others in higher education and has always been a fierce advocate for teachers during her tenure at the College of Education. She spent over 20 years as an Academic Advisor for both Pima Community college (10) and the University of Arizona (12) and was a terrific mentor and guide to all the students she had.

She was an incredible mother and wife who always supported her children and husband through the most challenging of hardships. She was the heart, soul and backbone of our family. Her unexpected passing has left us with an everlasting void, but the memories of her laughter and infectious spirit will be cherished and remembered forever.

She is preceded in death by her father Gonzalo Gutierrez, grandfather Francisco Alvarez, grandmother Elodia Alvarez and God father Jose Padilla.

Survived by her loving husband Richard Cunes, mother Maria Teresa Gutierrez, children Richard, Marcus, Aaron Cunes and Alyssa Gutierrez. And many cousins, aunts and uncles who valued her lively spirit.
