Paulo G Serrano, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Rio Rico on March 8, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on January 26, 1934, in Woodland, California, Paulo lived a rich and fulfilling life that impacted all who were fortunate enough to know him.
For 17 years, Paulo dedicated his career to Walter Home Refrigeration 1 & 2, followed by 27 years at Ocean Garden Refrigeration, where he served as warehouse manager for both companies. His work ethic was a testament to the hard-working man that he was; a quality that brought great pride to him and his family.
Paulo possessed an infectious sense of humor that could lighten even the heaviest of hearts. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying the spirit of community and compassion. A crafty and handy individual, he took great joy in fixing anything and everything, often found creating and building with his hands. His musical talents also flourished, as he enjoyed playing the armónica, guitar, and electronic organ, often serenading his family during road trips.
Memories of his unforgettable snacks will forever linger in the hearts of his loved ones—saltine crackers adorned with bologna, topped with ketchup and red devil sauce, and the delightful 'Bati' made of milk and Nilla wafers. He delighted in taking his family on rides to find their special tree, where they would share bologna sandwiches under its branches—a simple yet profound joy that encapsulated the warmth of his character.
Paulo proudly served in the U.S. Army as a member of the military police branch, a testament to his dedication and commitment to his country. His love for family was boundless and unyielding, and he leaves behind his beloved wife, Hortencia G. Serrano, with whom he shared 65 beautiful years of marriage.
He is survived by his children Martha Sonia S. Felix (Pedro T. Felix †), Diana S. Sanchez (William E. Sanchez), Pablo Serrano (Maribel O. Serrano), Olga S. Olivar (Jaime H. Olivar) and Judith S. Lopez. He also leaves a legacy of love through his 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his spirit in their lives.
Paulo was preceded in death by his parents, Maria Gallardo and Donasiano Serrano, who surely welcomed him with open arms.
The community is invited to celebrate Paulo's life at a visitation on March 22, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Nogales, Arizona. Following this, a Prayer Service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 1:30 PM, with a Mass at 2:00 PM and a Memorial Service at 3:15 PM.
As we remember Paulo G Serrano, we honor a truly remarkable man whose laughter, kindness, and unwavering dedication will be profoundly missed and forever cherished. May his soul rest in peace.
