Perry Matsiko

Perry Namara Kahingura Matsiko, age 69, passed away peacefully in her home on August 23^rd, 2023. Born Perpetua Namara Kahingura on June 12, 1954, to Meshach and Verna in Burunga, Uganda, she was raised on a farm within an idyllic close-knit family which included her two sisters, Miriam and Mary. She received her bachelor’s degree in education at Makerere University and began her teaching career in Kenya. The United States became her adopted home when she arrived in 1984. The Fourth of July was her favorite holiday, and she was so pleased to become a U.S. citizen.

Perry dedicated her life to spread the love of God with anyone she met. She was a mentor for many, a prayer warrior, and faithful servant of God.

Her life was a living example of one of her favorite Bible verses, Ephesians 4:32 - “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

She was an incredibly thoughtful and generous person, always thinking of how she could help others whether it was through preparing a meal, providing a place to stay, or a listening ear for sound advice. A calming presence, it seemed she had an endless supply of love to give. Her family meant everything to her, and she cherished her role as a mother. If you were blessed enough to know and receive love from her, she considered you family, too.

Perry was preceded in death by mother Verna, father Meshach, sisters Miriam and Mary, and son Timothy. She is survived by her two daughters, Sarah and Christine, one son, Daniel, son-in-law, Aaron, granddaughter, Michaela, extended family, and a host of long-time friends. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
