He graduated from Tucson High School before courageously serving in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. His dedication and service to his country were a testament to his strong character and sense of duty.

Described affectionately by his brother as a Tasmanian Devil but he loved him very much. Ray's lively spirit and unique personality left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His proudest accomplishments included paying off his home, an achievement he celebrated with joy by indulging in a couple of root beer floats with his brother, Richard, a simple joy that reflected his down-to-earth nature.
