The beautiful soul of Rebecca “Becky”Figueroa Navarrete, 76, previously from Morenci, Arizona, joined our heavenly father, on February 7, 2024, in her home in Tucson, Arizona, surrounded by her loving family.
Becky was born and raised in Morenci, Arizona, the oldest child of Juan and Priscilla Figueroa. She graduated from Morenci High School, where she met the love of her life, her husband, Ernesto Navarrete, of 59 years. Together they had three children Michael, Anna and Jamie, eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Becky earned an associate degree in Business Accounting from Pima College in Tucson, Arizona. She graduated from Morenci High in 1965 where she was a cheerleader, member of Girl’s league, student council, Spanish club, Arizona Girls State, and honors club. She worked various jobs for ten years for the Morenci School District, including in the administration office before moving to Tucson where she worked in accounts payable for eleven years at Cyprus Minerals in Green Valley. She then worked as the registration coordinator for twelve more years for Safari Club International before retiring in 2011.
Becky was involved with all her children’s and grandchildren’s sports and activities. She never missed an event. You could always count on her to be on the road to attend and support her children and their teammates. She enjoyed reading, cross word puzzles, cooking, baking, sewing, camping, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, gardening, concerts, travel and all things outdoors. Her back porch was her pastime.
She was a dedicated member of the Morenci/Clifton High School Class Reunion committee, lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 95, Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Girl Scouts leader, and a softball coach. Her devoted spirit to University of Arizona athletics, found her attending games and traveling throughout the country in loyal support of the cats – once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat!
Becky will always be remembered for her smile, gentle warmth, the love she had for her family and the way that she treated everyone as family. We couldn’t have asked for a better wife, mother, grandmother, sister, tia/aunt, Nina, leader, role model and friend. We will miss Grandma Becky every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, Ernesto Navarrete, children, Michael Navarrete (Bonnie), Anna Navarrete Molina and Jamie Navarrete.
