Richard G. Flores battled to the very end against a horrible disease of diabetes. After many years of surgeries, a kidney transplant and losing both legs, his body could no longer battle the disease. The Lord called him home on July 3, 2017. His wife Josephina Flores was by his side. He was a junior at Tucson High and Josie a sophomore at Pueblo when they first met on a blind date. Josie's friend Gloria invited Josie to a movie at the Deanza Drive Inn. Gloria's boyfriend did not have a car but his friend Richard did. They moved in together in 78' and were married in 84'. Their children were the Pitbulls they raised from Princess, Boo and his current baby Necklace. Richard lived his life doing what he loved most, restoring cars and entering them into Car Shows. He belonged to a car club; Klique where he could be among friends, his extended family that related and understood his passion for restoring cars. He started his passion in his 30's and won many trophies along the way. His favorite car to restore was the convertible 57' Chevy. The most popular car and pride and joy was 'Juicy Fruit' and the most recent 'Sir Dragon'. He was mentor to many younger people that had the same passion as he did of restoring cars. He was a no nonsense and straight to the point kind of person. A few years ago; Richard and Josie visited a new place of worship. They found were they belonged, they found the faith in the Lord and baptized. They received strength to continue fighting the battle together even after he lost his second leg. The faith of the Lord also gave him strength and acceptance at the end when the Lord called him home. He leaves behind his wife; Josephina Flores, sister, brother, sister-in-laws, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and godchildren. We pray for you and your family. Rest in Peace. Visitation will be on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Chapels, 2980 S. 6th Ave., Tucson, Arizona 85713.
