Rita Moreno Velasco

Rita Moreno Velasco, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 21, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona. She was born on August 16, 1948, in Nogales Sonora. Rita was known for her unwavering dedication to her family and her tireless efforts to provide the best for her sons.

Throughout her life, Rita exemplified diligence and perseverance. Her commitment to her sons was unparalleled, always advocating for their well-being and striving to ensure they had everything they needed to succeed. Rita hard work and determination left a lasting impact all who knew her.

In the hearts those who survive her, Rita leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. She is survived by her sons Ernesto Velasco, David E. Velasco, Juan G Velasco (Mary Lou), Jesus Velasco (Celeste), Manuel Velasco (Crystal), as well as her sister Socorro Sullivan. Rita is also mourned by her cherished 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Rita Moreno Velasco was preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Marcelina Moreno, brothers Manuel Moreno, Ambrosio Moreno, Antonio Moreno, sister Gregoria Montes, and beloved niece Rita Vargas. Although she is no longer with us, Rita's memory will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Services to honor and celebrate the life of Rita Moreno Velasco will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nogales. A Prayer Service will take place on August 3, 2024, starting at 1:30 PM followed by a Mass at 2:00 PM. The address of the church is 272 N Rodriguez St, Nogales, AZ 85621.

Rita's passing leaves a void in the lives of many, but the love she shared and the memories she created will forever be treasured by those who were touched by her kindness and warmth. May she rest in peace knowing that she was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
