Rodolfo Arredondo Espinosa

Rodolfo Arredondo Espinosa, 85, of Nogales, AZ passed away peacefully in his home with his family on January 2, 2025. He was born on March 4, 1939 in Ixtlán del Río, Nayarit Mexico to Salvadora Arredondo de Espinosa and Adolfo Espinosa. He was the youngest of 5 children. In his youth, Rodolfo spent many hours exploring and hiking in the tropical landscapes of his hometown. He was a wonderful storyteller, and enjoyed reliving his adventures with the family. Described by his daughters as “a professor of life,” he was someone who would share wisdom through bible references and his own personal experiences. Anyone who knew him was enchanted by his endless knowledge of many subjects, his ability to be a wonderful listener and someone who took time to help others. He lived his life peacefully with love and faith. He connected to the world through prayer, music, art, gardening and enjoying good food and wine paired with great company. Rodolfo was a gentle loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and a wonderful friend. Rodolfo was fifteen when he boarded a train from Guadalajara, Mexico to Nogales, Sonora in 1957 in search of a better life. He enrolled in an academy where he learned English. He began working for the Mexican consulate as an errand boy and later processed visas for American tourists. For many years, he also worked for the American consulate and eventually transitioned to the world of produce working for Shannon Brokerage for the next 32 years. He retired early to enjoy his golden years. His coworkers commented on his excellent work ethic and dedication to his job and family. Rodolfo is survived by his children, Maria Teresa “Terri” James, Rodolfo Espinoza Jr. and Raquel Espinoza. A rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. mass at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Parish on January 22, 2025. A burial at Nogales cemetery will follow.
