Rosa Antonia Canez

Rosa Villa Cañez, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2020. She was called home to the arms of our Lord and Savior from her home in Sahuarita, AZ. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren at the time of her passing. Rosa was born in Amado, AZ. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manuel S. Cañez, loving parents Luis and Esperanza Nunez, and brothers and sisters Carmen, Frances, Alberto, Manuel, Rita, Ramon, Romelia, and Esperanza.

She is survived by her two daughters Nellie Torres-Cañez, Margie Godinez-Cañez, and siblings, Mary Nunez, Anita Morales, Margie Calixtro, Guadalupe Nunez, and Enrique Villa. She met her sweetheart and future husband at the age of 15 upon his return from service in WW2. Rosa married Manuel when she was 19 years old. At the time of Manuel's passing, they had been devoted in marriage for 67 years. After the birth of their daughters, they moved to Long Beach, Ca where they raised their family and later, returned to Tucson in 1988.

Our beloved mom was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grand children.

She was a lady of few words and very private with her thoughts, but she loved immensely. She gave us strength and courage to believe in ourselves. She left us all with a legacy of love and loyalty that will forever be honored and cherished by those who knew and loved her. She bestowed a strong will and strength of character that will live in us forever.

We love you and miss you very much, Mom. We await the glorious reunion when we are together again.
