Roy Valenzuela Mendibles, 77, died peacefully on December 4th, 2021, surrounded by the faith and love of his family. He was a Yaqui native of Tucson, AZ born on May 15th, 1944. His profound love for Tucson and the people resonated in everything that he did. He dedicated his life to cleaning the streets of Tucson, loved playing bingo, loved playing music for every occasion, watching University of Arizona sports, and he loved being the life of the party, always laughing and joking.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Q Mendibles; son, Roy Q Mendibles Jr. (Monica); daughter, Mary Carmen Muñoz (Justin); sisters, Alice Quiroz and Mary Lugo; grandchildren, Roy A. Mendibles lll, Brandon Mendibles, Julian Mendibles, Tiffany Mendibles-Muñoz (Ramon) and TJ Mendibles; great-grandchildren, Andres Muñoz and Ania Muñoz. Roy is proceeded in death by his parents; Antonio R. Mendibles and Carmen Valenzuela; siblings, Frank Mendibles, Eddie Mendibles, Helen Mendibles, Mike Mendibles and Linda Mendibles.
The Mendibles’ family wishes to thank St. Mary’s Medical Staff, Banner University Medical Center South and Banner University of Arizona Medical Center and the ICU for their love and exceptional care with watching over Roy during his most difficult time.
