Sandra Marie Valdez was born on January 17, 1969 in Tucson, AZ. God called her home on June 8, 2017. Sandy was a devoted wife to Jose Lupe Valdez and a loving mother to her daughters Vanessa Felix, Veronica Romo (Everardo) and Maliyah Valdez; sons Antonio Valdez (Erika) and Josiah Valdez and her granddaughter Nyvianna Romo-Villa. She is survived by her parents, Paul and Yolanda South, brother Paul (Maria) South and nephew Paulie and niece Icela South. Also survived by her aunts Blanche (George) Rodriguez and Terry Castro, cousins, and numerous friends. Preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Librado and Elvira Gomez and paternal grandparents Paul Sr. and Mary Ruby South. Sandy was a person who loved life and cared for everyone she loved. She had a tremendous heart. She was always willing to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed entertaining, sharing stories and making people laugh. Her passion was cooking, taking care and spending time with her family. She will be missed by family, friends, and by those who were privileged to know her. Services will be held at Martinez Funeral Chapels, 2580 S. 6th Avenue, Tucson, Arizona 85713 on Friday, June 16, 2017. Viewing time will be from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with a rosary recited at 8:30 a.m. Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, 602 W. Ajo Way, with burial to follow at Holy Hope Mausoleum, 3555 N. Oracle Rd.
