Steve McKenna Jr. 81, of Tucson, Arizona passed away August 17, 2021 peacefully with his loved ones around. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Steve O. McKenna and Alfonsa S. McKenna; brother Hector McKenna; son Rapheal F. McKenna (mother MaryLou McKenna); granddaughter Brianna M. McKenna. Survived by his beloved wife, Carmen McKenna; Children, Steve F. (Lupita) McKenna III, Elizabeth F. McKenna, Sonia (Ruben) Rodriguez, Alvaro (Lucia) Ochoa, Arnulfo (Vero) Ochoa. Also survived by 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. His name will live on with Steve McKenna IV, his grandson.
Steve McKenna Jr. was born in Tucson, Arizona on October 23, 1939. Steve was the eldest son of 5 siblings Mary, Yolanda, Rosemary, Hector and Reymundo he took on the big brother role to teach and protect. He was very family orientated. Soon after high school Steve followed in the footsteps of his fathers and enlisted to the Military in the 50's. When Steve returned from overseas he began his family, then moved to California worked full time as a machinist and part time at the Dodger stadium he also enrolled in college during the 60's. Steve returned to Arizona and bought his first house in 1973 for his family. On September 9, 1978 he became an Ironworker for Local 75 and retired as a respected Ironworker. Steve was a hard worker who loved to design, build and always tinkered with one of his ideas. This man could literally build you anything out of nothing. Over the years Steve had taken many under his wing and taught them his trades and for that he will live on forever not just through blood but the skills he left so many. Although Steve had dealt with sorrow in his earlier life he was truly blessed with his spouse Carmen McKenna they shared the love to travel .Our family grew with more adventures, good times and memories. Steve McKenna Jr. was a great man and will be missed dearly. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Martinez Funeral chapel 2580 S. 6th Ave Tucson, AZ 85713 starting at 8 am and rosary at 9:30 am. Followed by Mass 11 am at Santa Cruz Church 1220 S. 6th Ave Tucson,AZ 85713.
