Goodbye is not forever, love is.
Tina Gonzales Betancourt, 74, finished her race here on this earth and entered eternal life with her Redeemer and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. She was born to Jose and Dora Gonzales on April 16, 1947, in Alpine, TX. They later moved to California where she graduated from Colton Union High School in 1965.
On June 25, 1966, Tina married the handsome love of her life, Richard N. Betancourt and made her home in Tucson, AZ. Losing her own father at a youthful age, she had always desired a large family. She was blessed to join one of the largest Tucson families, the Betancourts from 13th Avenue. Later, she gained an even larger family when she gave her life to Jesus in 1976 and attended the Door Christian Fellowship throughout the remainder of her years.
She traveled the world and lived in exotic and tropical places. She raised her four children with abundant love, patience, and humility. Tina was a nurturer at heart. She was proud of her Latino heritage and her familial roots. With every ounce of her being, she was utterly loyal, as a wife, mother, grandmother, family member, believer in Christ and friend.
Tina enjoyed learning, reading, and writing. You could always find her reading her bible or an enjoyable book. She enrolled at Pima Community College and took computer and creative writing classes. She worked for a brief time at Walgreens and later at Fitzgerald's Manufactured Homes in retails sales and as a service manager. She had the ability to be anything she put her mind to, however, career climbing was never her goal. Her number one priority was her faith and family.
Her love was through her family, faith, and her food.
Tina is survived by her husband, Richard N. Betancourt; her daughters Yvette B. Dominguez (George), Yvonne M. Phelan (Rick), Janelle Marquez, and her son, Richard (Rico) Betancourt; and her grandchildren Alana, Nina, Pierce, Trey, Connor, Caitlin, Jaylen, Aidan, Alexa and Mariah.
Tina's Celebration of Life will be held at Door Church 2950 E. Irvington Rd., Tucson, AZ on September 11, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.
