Wilbur Paul Vermeulen, 83, of Rio Rico, AZ, passed away August 24, 2019. He was born November 17, 1935 in New Baltimore, Michigan to Walbert Vermeulen and Louise Kazor. He graduated from Algonac High School and received his degree in Business from the University of Detroit. Wilbur honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and deployed overseas to Germany. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Elks, American Legion and VFW.
He was a loving husband, father, mentor, outdoorsman, and storyteller that would captivate a room with his outgoing personality and questionably inappropriate jokes. He had an exceptional sense of humor and would always exclaim "one for the road" while grabbing a lollipop from the candy basket at the bank. As a professional realtor and accountant, he was a great provider who put his family first. Always looking to add to his ‘collections’ and investments, he had a unique ability to turn a dime into several dollars. He had a passion for fishing and hunting, evident by the countless memories made from many trips with friends and family. And just like his passion for fishing and hunting, he had a huge passion for his wife’s cooking and everyone he knew is sure to have received a text message or two from Wilbur containing photos of himself proudly displaying his wife’s delicious creations.
Wilbur is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Tavita C. Vermeulen, sons, Eric Paul Vermeulen (spouse Janelle), Scott Paul Vermeulen and Saul Castro Vermeulen; daughters, Candace Ann Ford, Julie Ann Grommes (spouse Brian) and Alexandra Castro Vermeulen; sister, Carole Black; and 6 grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be on Saturday, September 7th, 2019 at the Holiday Inn Express, in Nogales, AZ.
Forever loved, you earned your angel wings!
