Cecilia Gonzales Contreras

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of an amazing mother, daughter, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. Cecilia Gonzales Contreras has gone to her eternal home in heaven on February 1, 2021, after 60 years of fulfilling a wonderful life.

Cecilia was born on November 12, 1960, to Alicia M. Gonzales and the late Manuel Y. Gonzales, in their home on Meyer Street in the heart of Tucson. Where they made many beautiful childhood memories. She was the fourth of ten siblings and knew what hard work and family dedication entailed.

Cecilia was a loyal and loving daughter who was selfless during hardships and kept the family united. She was a dedicated mother who cherished her daughter Princess and embraced every moment with her, she especially loved being a Nana to her two beautiful grandchildren Noah and Nya. She enjoyed family gatherings, her loving, and caring spirit illuminated all of our hearts.

She worked 16 years as an educator for the community and was a true advocate for the youth and then transitioned to become a childcare provider for another 16 years. She had a strong work ethic and always said, "if you are going to do something, do it right the first time."

Cecilia is survived by her mother, Alicia M. Gonzales (the late Manuel Y. Gonzales), husband Gustavo S. Contreras, daughter Cecilia Contreras, grandchildren Noah and Nya. Brothers: Pedro (Letitia), David (Elsa), Hector (Eva). Sisters: the late Nellie, Sandra (Joe), Luz (Robert), Yolanda (Eleazar), Alicia (Jon), Silvia (Miguel), and five godsons, nephews, and nieces, Albert, and her fur baby Bear.
